Marita Parkinson, BA (UQ), BBSc (Griffith University) LLB (QUT), GradDipLP (QUT), RN, commenced working with Splatt Lawyers in 2014 and is part of the Total and Permanent Disability (TPD) team.
Prior to commencing a career in law Marita worked for many years as a Registered Nurse in the UK, USA, Brisbane and Edward River Aboriginal Community (now Pormpuraaw) in the Gulf Country of Far North Queensland.
Since being admitted as a lawyer to the Supreme Court of Queensland in January 2013 Marita has qualified as a mediator, and has trained as a Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner.
Marita is currently studying for her Master of Laws (QUT).
Marita’s extensive nursing experience provides her with a background of understanding into the effects of illness and injury on a person’s life.
Marita is a disability advocate and is committed to obtaining the best outcome for the client, and is often the first point of contact for a person making an enquiry.
Marita’s interests involve activities in the natural environment such walking through mountains and rainforests, swimming and snorkeling, admiring sunsets and stargazing.
Marita also has an interest in supporting indigenous communities, the homeless and animal welfare.
